Long overdue, music media giant and bar-setter Billboard now has an EDM chart. It’s called ‘Dance/Electronic Songs’ to be exact. Billboard has historically been a resource not only just showcasing industry news and editorial, as it’s made a name for itself by charting the best-selling and most popular music on a weekly basis.

The Dance/Electronic Songs chart includes 25 selections of what are seen to be the most popular Dance/Electronic tracks based on radio airplay audience, sales data and streaming activity, all measured by Nielsen. However, there’s one more factor, a national sample of 140 club DJ who will report their playlists. It hasn’t been revealed whom this group consists of.

In order for tracks to qualify for the chart, they must adhere to a core sound and tempo in line with EDM, according to Billboard. It seems the chart will be a vehicle to accurately measure what’s setting the tone in EDM. Right now will.i.am. and Brtieny Spears’ “Scream & Shout” sits at number one on the chart with Swedish House Mafia closely behind at number two and artists like Calvin Harris and Zedd rounding off the top 10.
